Error description

  • New function - BKR Primary Backup Commands RESTART, REVIEW and
SUBMIT have been enhanced to enable Load Balancing
and Queue Management functionality. This will help
customers to reduce the total elapsed time of backup
job and/or to group related data and backup on the
              same target device.
Load Balancing parameters can be configured via
BKRSYSTM CONFIG. Embedded Defaults can be overridden
              using BKRSYSTM CONFIG.
    .
An utility exec SIZEVTOD EXEC is included with the
product. This utility can be used to analyze historic
backup metrics and suggest configuration parameters
which can then be used in BKRSYSTM CONFIG.
    .
For more details, refer to IBM Backup and Restore
Manager for z/VM - Administration Guide" for
details of configuring Load Balancing, how to invoke
using REVIEW, RESTART, SUBMIT commands and how to
              use SIZEVTOD utility.
    .
    .
Bug fix - When more workers are used (>27) the workers
selection user exit BKREXI03 fails while writing
the response to GLOBALV. Also, the existing job
naming convention (JOBNAMEn) does not support 64
workers, which is the max allowed.
                  Old - SAMPFUL0, SAMPFUL1, SAMPFUL2...SAMPFULn
                  New - SAMPFU00, SAMPFU01, SAMPFU02...SAMPFUnn
    .
This update corrects the above issue. Job name
convention has been changed from JOBNAMEn to JOBNAMnn
so that 64 workers can be supported. Also, BKREXI03
is skipped when more than 27 workers are used.
Default selection algorithm will be used.
    .
The sample exit routines BKREXI03 SAMPEXEC, ALTEXI03
SAMPEXEC have been updated to trap the error and
trigger default selection algorithm instead of
               hard abend.
    .
Enhance - When RESTORE function is used without REPLACE option
and if the file already exists in the target, the
file is skipped but the user is not aware as the
               return code is 0.
    .
To avoid this, return code is set to 4 and also a
warning message is issued both to the user and
               console.
    .
Fix - Fix the wrong syntax of INCLUDE RDEVVOL in SAMPDR
TEMPSAMP and also in the Admin Guide.
    .
Fix - Fix the Disk Full issue due to the growth of
               SESSION GLOBALV A file.
    .
             - Modify BKRSTART EXEC to ERASE SESSION GLOBALV A
               during startup
    .
Fix - Fix the error with Catalog Interface commands when
               A-Disk is empty.
    .
             - Replace the CMS routine ESTATEW with CSL DMSQFMOD.
ESTATEW is unable to handle empty minidisks.
