Error description

  • You may encounter a javacore dump of the WebSphere/Liberty
    server JVM when attempting to start the server in profile mode
    from within RAD 9.7.0.4; the same issue is present in
    RSAD/RSAD4WS 9.7.1, as they share common Test & Performance
    Tools (TPTP).

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Create a dynamic web project (New -> Other -> Web -> Dynamic
    Web Project);
    2. Right click on the server (traditional WAS or Liberty) and
    select "Add and Remove..."
    3. Select the project created in step 1 and click "Add", then
    "OK";
    4. Right click on the server in the Servers view and select
    "Profile"
    5. Select "Java profiling -> Execution time analysis", then
    click "Finish";

    Expected results:
    The server should start in profile mode without incident.

    Actual results:
    The server JVM may terminate with a javacore dump, referencing
    Module=..\plugins\org.eclipse.tptp.platform.jvmti.runtime_4.8.2
    00.v202012080734\agent_files\win_em64t\JIE.dllas the source of t

Problem conclusion

  • When testing RADO9.7.0.6-I20240325_0825 on Windows, I didn't not
    hit the crash issue and the DLL size was the corrected "fixed
    size" as follows:
    C:\Program
    Files\IBM\IBMIMShared\plugins\org.eclipse.tptp.platform.jvmti.ru
    ntime_4.8.301.v202012080734\agent_files\win_em64t\
    JIE.dll                1238 KB
