Error description

  • Attempting to run an Extract using IBM High Performance Unload
    and Image Copies on tape. When the JCL includes a COPYDDN DDNAME
     statement for the image copy, the following error message
    appears in the process report:
    
    Process Options:
       Process Mode        : Batch
       Retrieve Data Using : IBM High Performance Unload
       Limit Extract Rows  : 1000000000
    
        *** The Following Error was Encountered during EXTRACT
    Processing ***
    
    Unable to allocate dataset for an image copy.
    Dataset name is image.copy.dsn.value.

Problem summary

    *                 Compare process that uses IBM High           *
    *                 Performance Unload's COPYDDN DDNAME          *
    *                 parameter and Image Copy files               *
    *                 on tape as the source for the data.          *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If an Image Copy being used as the      *
    *                      source for an Optim process invoking    *
    *                      the IBM High Performance Unload utility *
    *                       is on tape and the COPYDDN DDNAME      *
    *                       parameter is present the process may   *
    *                       end with the following message in the  *
    *                       Process Report:                        *
    *                      "Unable to allocate dataset for an      *
    *                      image copy"                             *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the fix provided.                      *
    ****************************************************************
    Due to an error in logic Optim was attempting to allocate the
    Image Copy data set after it had already been allocated.
    

Problem conclusion
