PH49840: PREVENT ETOS-PROVIDED NDMX EXIT FROM AN ABEND WHEN IMS APAR PH41104 IS APPLIED

Error description

• Currently, ETOS-provided NDMX exit (IZTNDMXF) abends (S0C4) with
  IMS CTL region when IZTNDMXF is called for non-message driven
  BMP abends. That occurs when the following conditions are met.
  * IMS APAR PH41104 (Do Not Stop PSB for non-message driven BMP
  regions using DFSNDMX0 exit) is applied.
  * An IMS was configured to call IZTNDMXF for non-message driven
  BMP abends.
  * Non-message-driven BMP abends occur
  
  This APAR prevents IZTNDMXF from abends, which occurs when
  IZTNDMXF is called for non-message driven BMP abends.
  

Local fix

• A workaround is not to configure IMS to call IZTNDMXF for
  non-message driven BMP abends.
  NDMX exits are not called for non-message driven BMP abends by
  default, even when IMS PTF DA41104 is applied.
  
  In detail, with IMS APAR PH41104, the NDMX_CALLED_FOR parameter
  of the <USER_EXITS> section of the DFSDFxxx PROCLIB member
  accepts new values to configure IMS to call NDMX exit for
  non-message driven BMP abends. Those new values are 'BMP(ALL)',
  'BMP(A)', or 'BMP(NMD)'.
  Therefore, as a workaround, please do not specify those values.

  *                      non-message driven BMP abends.          *
  *                      With this fix, IMS ETO Support users    *
  *                      can specify the status of abended       *
  *                      programs by their own NDMX exit even    *
  *                      when non-message driven BMP abends      *
  *                      occur.                                  *

  *                      Note that, IMS functionality that       *
  *                      calls NDMX exit for processing          *
  *                      non-message driven BMP abends was       *
  *                      introduced with IMS APAR PH41104.       *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR.         *

  With this fix and IMS APAR PH41104, IMS ETO Support users can
  specify the status of abended programs by their own NDMX exit
  when non-message driven BMP abends occur.
