PH49604: THE CDC Z/OS CLS TASK MAY BE BLOCKED ON ACCEPTING AN INCOMING CONNECTION AND STOPS THE ADDRESS SPACE SHUTDOWN TO PROCEED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If Communications Listener (CLS) task determines to accept an
  incoming connection but the connection is reset by remote side
  just before CDC actually accepts it, the accept process would be
   blocked until a new connection arrives. This would be an issue
  during CDC shutdown process, since no new connection arrives any
   more, CLS would be blocked on accept permanently and stops the
  CDC address space shutdown to proceed

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The CDC z/OS Communications Listener    *
  *                      (CLS) Task may be blocked permanently   *
  *                      on accepting an incoming connection and *
  *                      stops the address space shutdown to     *
  *                      proceed. Dump of the CDC address space  *
  *                      shows only MIT, OSC, CIT and CLS tasks  *
  *                      remaining, and the CLS task is stuck on *
  *                      accept() function.                      *

  The CDC z/OS listener socket should be configured to use the
  non-blocking mode.
  

Problem conclusion

• CDC z/OS listener socket has been changed from blocking mode to
  non-blocking mode.
