  • "com.ibm.ws.orb_8.5.0.jar" needs JDK ORB 8 classes", as the
current JAR file contains JDK6 classes that are out of support.

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WAS 8.5.5 is using an ORB level of Java *
*                      6/26 for thin clients. Customers using  *
*                      ORB classes in Java 8 could run into    *
*                      issues.                                *

* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
****************************************************************
Prior to this fix, WAS 8.5.5 uses the Java 6/26 ORB because
WAS 8.5.5 supported java 6, 7, and 7.1 in addition to 8.0. The
older ORB was  needed to maintain compatibility with all
available JVMs.
In WAS for 8.5.5, as of July 31 2022, we no longer support
those java versions (6, 7 and 7.1). Since we no longer support
thin clients using Java 6, 7 and 7.1, we will move the ORB in
8.5.5 to the latest Java 8 version.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The ORB jar will be updated to the latest available Java 8
ORB. In 8.5.5, this update is from Java 6. In 9.0, this update
is from an earlier Java 8 level.

The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
8.5.5.23 and 9.0.5.14.
