Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL 6.4 compiling and  *
    *                 running user-defined functions.              *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The following items related to          *
    *                      user-defined functions have been fixed. *
    *                      1. Fixed bug for missing error message  *
    *                      when a data item failed conformance     *
    *                      checking due to a mismatch of the BYTE  *
    *                      LENGTH phrase of the PICTURE clause. 2. *
    *                      Fixed bug related to incorrect          *
    *                      user-defined function name appearing in *
    *                      the compiler listing file. 3. Fixed bug *
    *                      where error message IGYDS1046 was       *
    *                      incorrectly issued for user-defined     *
    *                      functions when the PGMNAME(LONGMIXED)   *
    *                      option was in effect. 4. Fixed bug      *
    *                      where in some cases the compiler was    *
    *                      not generated code for the PARMCHECK    *
    *                      compiler option for invocations to      *
    *                      user-defined functions when the         *
    *                      PARMCHECK compiler option was in        *
    *                      effect. 5. Fixed a bug where the        *
    *                      compiler would incorrectly issue        *
    *                      message IGYPS2121 for an invocation to  *
    *                      itself when the AS clause of the        *
    *                      FUNCTION-ID paragraph was specified. 6. *
    *                      Fixed a bug where if a user-defined     *
    *                      function name had the same name as an   *
    *                      intrinsic function name, and a data     *
    *                      item was defined also with the same     *
    *                      name, an invocation would be generated  *
    *                      to the intrinsic function name. The     *
    *                      compiler was corrected to generate an   *
    *                      invocation to the user-defined function *
    *                      name.                                   *

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *

    Several problems related to user-defined functions were
    identified in the PROBLEM DESCRIPTION.
    

Problem conclusion
