Error description

  • In certain situations a

    CEMT PEFORM PIPELINE(value) SCAN

command results in an abend0c4 in libdfhcdjni.so and CICS
    region termination.

The problem occurs when the pipeline scan is done when there is
work in flight for a Webservice that will be updated as a result
    of the scan.

In the reported case the pipeline involved utilizes an Asix2
    JVM server.

Local fix

  • If customer does have a period where there is no work in
flight, the pipeline scan should complete normally.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An abend0c4 in libdfhcdjni.so and CICS *
    *                      terminates following a manual PIPELINE  *
    * SCAN of the wsbind directory. *
    ****************************************************************
    CICS provides support via command:

    CEMT PERFORM PIPELINE(value) SCAN

to initiate a scan of the web service binding directory.

If work for a pipeline is running, when the update of the
Webservice is requested, the update can be deferred until the
    request has completed in CICS.

The update of the Webservice can result in a switch of TCB and
in some circumstances, this can result in a return from a JNI
call on the QR, which will cause an abend0c4.

The problem can only occur for Java based pipelines.

    KEYWORDS: JVMSERVER PIPELINE libdfhcdjni.so

Problem conclusion

  • CICS pipeline code has been updated to prevent the abend0c4 when
updating the Webservice in a Java based pipeline.
