Error description
If the length of the output buffer area for ICDS is 1 byte longer than the length of the IC record, IMS HP Image copy incorrectly clears 256 bytes when it should clear 1 byte. As a result, the storage located adjacent to the output buffer is overwritten and DRF terminates with an unexpected error. In one case, the VSAM IDARCWA work area was overlaid with zeroes causing an ABEND0C4 in IDA019L1. IMS database segment data can be seen directly above the overlay area in storage.

IMS HP Image Copy sets the input DBDS records in the output buffer and then clears the rest of the output buffer area where no data is set. If the record length is one byte shorter than a multiple of 8, it must clear one byte. However, the clear logic is incorrect and clears a length of 256 bytes. As a result, the storage behind the buffer is overwritten with zeros, resulting in an unexpected error.
Problem conclusion
After IMS HP Image Copy puts the record, it clears the unused area with the correct length.
