Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the z/OSMF Software Management * * task. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Add a new Software Instance action to * * Remove Temporary Catalog Aliases * * created by a Deployment operation that * * created a new master catalog. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: The z/OSMF Software Management task in z/OS * * V2.3, V2.4, and V2.5 is enhanced to support * * removing temporary catalog aliases created * * by a Deployment operation that created a new * * master catalog. * **************************************************************** The z/OSMF Software Management task is updated to support a new Software Instance action, "Remove Temporary Catalog Aliases". This action will be applicable only to software instances created by a Deployment operation that created a new master catalog. This new action will generate and submit JCL to remove the new master catalog temporary catalog alias (and temporary catalog aliases for user catalogs if any) from the driving system catalog, remove the data set aliases in the new master catalog and user catalogs, and update the CSI to reference the true data set names. This new action can be performed from the Software Instance list page in the Software Management application, or programmatically by a new z/OSMF REST API. In addition to providing the new remove temporary catalog aliases function, the following issues are also fixed: - The Model page in the deployment configuration wizard has been updated to provide more guidance on when to select a software instance to use as a model. - The Catalogs page in the deployment configuration wizard has been updated to add a Modify action to more directly modify the properties for the selected catalog. - The Define Job Settings page in the deployment checklist has been updated to add hover helps that describe the "JCL data set name" and "Work data set name prefix" fields. - The generation of deployment jobs has been corrected to handle replacing another software instance that includes saved UNIX file system data sets when the associated file systems are mounted, preventing messages IZUD9705E and IZUD9706E from being displayed on the Define Job Settings page of the deployment checklist. IZUD9705E Generation of the deployment jobs failed. Target data set data-set-name cannot overwrite the existing data set with the same name on volume volume-serial because the existing data set is not included in the software instance being replaced. IZUD9706E Generation of the deployment jobs failed. Target data set data-set-name cannot overwrite the existing cataloged data set with the same name because the existing data set is not included in the software instance being replaced. - The Deployment Unzip Data Sets job (IZUDxxUZ) has been corrected to handle merging data sets with RECFM=VBM. Previously the IDCAMS program in the ALLOCDS step of the Unzip job failed with INVALID KEYWORD, VBM - The Deployment FTP job (IZUDxxFA) has been updated to FTP merged data sets during a remote deployment. - The Deployment Merge UNIX Data Sets job (IZUDxxMG) has been updated to correctly substitute the work data set name prefix for a remote deployment. - The Deployment Update CSI Data Sets job (IZUDxxUC) has been corrected to add the temporary catalog alias to the TLIBPREFIX subentry in global zone SYSMOD entries when creating a new master catalog. - The Deployment -> View -> Deployment Summary -> Data Sets to Merge tab has been updated to display the merged data sets for a completed deployment. - The Export as Portable Software Instance wizard has been updated to correctly save modifications to a previously saved Export operation. - The Export as Portable Software Instance wizard has been updated to delete any generated jobs from the JCL data set when the Export operation is canceled. - The Export as Portable Software Instance operation has been updated to not allow a PDS data set with a RECFM=U to be a merge candidate for a PDSE data set. - The Software Instance -> Perform Workflows -> Create Workflow action has been updated to correctly open the created workflow instance in the Workflows tab when the workflow name contains special characters (such as "="). When calling the Workflows task the workflow name is now encoded on the URL. - Software Management has been updated to encode data set names and unix paths when included in the URL passed to the Data Sets and Files REST API.
