Error description

  • An ALTER PARTITION for a PAGENUM RELATIVE tablespace with
256 parts fails when trying to add 257th part

DECRIPTION: Change Management DROPs the tablespace instead of
ALTER when attempting to add the 257th part. However, if there
are already 257 partitions, it will allow additional partitions
to be added with an alter.

When analyzing a change that adds partitions to a table in a
table space with the PAGENUM RELATIVE attribute, Db2 Admin Tool
decides to drop and create the table space when trying to add
the 257th partition. Db2 allows this partition to be added by
using an ALTER operation, because PAGENUM is set to RELATIVE.
Db2 Admin Tool should also add this partition by using an ALTER
statement. If partitions over 4096 are added, the following
    message is displayed:
ADB7397E The number of partitions exceeds the limit of 4096 for
    PAGENUM RELATIVE table spaces.
Ensure that the number of partitions in the source does not
    exceed this maximum value.
