PH44669: EYUTS0004I AND EYUTS0002E MESSAGES IN CPSM CMAS EYULOG INDICATING CICS REGION FAILED TO JOIN. CPSM BELIEVES IT IS ALREADY ACTIVE

APAR status

Error description

• You are trying to connect a CICS region to a CPSM CICSPlex. When
  the region starts, it fails to properly join the CICSPlex in
  all managing CMASes for the CICSPlex.
  
  If you look in the CMAS EYULOGs, you may see the following
  errors, indicating that CPSM thought that the region was already
  active:
  
  EYUTS0004I cmasname Topology Found cicsname already Active.
  
  
  EYUTS0002E cmasname Topology Join for cicsname Failed -
  
                     APPLID(cicsname) CICSplex(plexname).
  

Local fix

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If a MAS is attempting to join to a     *
  *                      remote CMAS at the time the connection  *
  *                      route between the 2 CMASes is changing  *
  *                      it is possible to get two JOIN events.  *
  *                                                              *
  *                      The 2nd one fails with "EYUTS0004I      *
  *                      xxxxxxxx Topology Found xxxxxxxx        *
  *                      already Active" but leaves CPSM in an   *
  *                      inconsistent state such that subsequent *
  *                      JOINs and DISCONNECTs will not work.    *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF to all CMASes. This can be     *
  *                 done in any order.                           *
  ****************************************************************
  If multiple JOIN events are submitted to a CMAS for the same
  MAS then TSSJ will leave the CSDB_STRT_TSSCJ field containing
  the MAS start time.
  This causes Disconnect processing, TSST, to believe it is in a
  race condition with TSSJ and it therefore does nothing. This
  leaves the MAS in an inconsistent state from which it can not
  escape without a CMAS restart.
  

Problem conclusion

• The code in EYU0TSSJ, and EYU0TSSC, has been modified to clear
  CSDB_STRT_TSSCJ if EYUTS0004I (MAS already active) is found.
  This allows disconnect processing to work correctly.
