Error description

  • The DFHRM0403 explanation reads like this:

"The system log is being read to recover and resolve the
inflight, indoubt, commit-failed or backout-failed units of
work. All the records related to the identified unit of work
have been read. This unit of work was found to be inflight,
indoubt, commit-failed or backout-failed, and so further
processing is required to resolve it."

This message explanation does not discuss units of work
recovered from the system log with a status of Backed-Out that
are waiting for a forget flow. These UOWs do not require
    further processing to resolve it.

Here is an example of such a DFHRM0403 message:

    DFHRM0403 01/02/2022 00:24:05 DBDCCICS UOWID:X'DAD4578C689DC2A4'
    recovered for resolution, current status:BACKED-OUT,
    tasknum:00012345, tranid:ABCD, Net
    UOWID:X'170E'/NETID.DBDCCICS/X'D4578C687B220001'

The message explanation for message DFHRM0403 does not include
the case for UOWs with retained links from a previous resync to
    an external resource manager.

Problem conclusion

  • The CICS Messages manual will be changed in a refresh of the
IBM Documentation, to improve the message explanation for
    message DFHRM0403 as follows:

The system log is being read to recover and resolve the
inflight, indoubt, commit-failed or backout-failed units of
work. All the records related to the identified unit of work
    have been read.

These will be a matching DFHRM0402 message issued earlier during
the recovery processing for the same unit of work. If this unit
of work was found to be inflight, indoubt, commit-failed or
backout-failed, then further processing is required to resolve
    it.

CICS also has to recover any locally committed units of work
awaiting a forget flow for resolution with a remote system, or
with retained links from a previous resync to an external
    resource manager.

The total number of such locally committed units of work that
are recovered during the CICS restart is reported in message
DFHRM0229. These units of work will be resolved when CICS
reconnects to the appropriate remote system or external resource
    manager.
