Error description

  • This customer had 116 data sets in the DFHRPL concatenation,

and when using IPCS with LD=3, saw the following errors:
** DFHPD0128 Invalid data length 1474 specified for

             address 26516000.

        ** DFHPD0103 PLIBE_RP address 26516000 is invalid.

This happens if the DFHRPL has more than 90 data sets.

IPCS has a maximum buffer size (IPCS_MAX_BUFFER_SIZE)

of 4096 and with 90+ files this RPL concatenation is greater

than 4096 and so gets the length error.

    Additional symptoms: KIXREVCM

Local fix

  • Reduce the number of data sets in the DFHRPL list so
there is less than 90 files.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS Users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Using IPCS to format the LD domain with *
    * a large number of DFHRPL data sets *
    *                      results in DFHPD0128 and DFHPD0103.     *
    ****************************************************************
IPCS has a buffer limit of 4096. A DFHRPL concatenation
containing more than 90 data sets exceeds this size and will
result in messages DFHPD0128 and DFHPD0103 being issued.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHLDDUF has been changed to check for the number of DFHRPL
data sets and if the number exceeds 90, the formatting of the
RPL will be truncated to 90. A message indicating the RPL has
been truncated is written in the IPCS output.
