PH42289: SMF 100 RECORDS FAILING TO DECOMPRESS DUE TO SEQUENCE NUMBER BEING OVER 32K BYTES.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• SMF 101 subtype 1 record buffer size is over 32k bytes which
  is causing issues with the decompress routine in IZDS. The APAR
  will now show the amount of bad records in the SMF data and
  not attempt to process them.

  An SMF 100 type 1 record is being produced by Db2 with an
  invalid length in the field SM100BUF, which causes the
  decompression routine to fail.
  

Problem conclusion

• A check has been added to the decompression routine to ensure
  the value of the field SM100BUF is not greater than 32760.
  When SM100BUF is greater than 32760 the record is treated as
  a bad record.
