PH41530: ADB398E ISSUED TO INDICATE SPECIFIED TS NOT UNICODE WHEN CREATING A PLAN_TABLE WITH TS DEFINED AS UNICODE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When creating a PLAN_TABLE via panel ADB2EC "Create PLAN_TABLE",
  if only the table space name is entered for a table space
  defined as UNICODE in database DSNDB04, the following error is
  issued:
  
  ADB398E
  
  
  The encoding scheme of the specified table space must be UNICODE
  
  
  
  The same error is issued if a table space name that is not in
  the catalog at all is specified.
  

Local fix

• BYPASS/CIRCUMVENTION:
  Local Fix:  When entering the table space name, add DSNDB04 as
  the database name.  NOTE:  DSNDB04.tsname must already exist.

  When using panel ADB2EC to create a plan table for a specific
  schema,  the user received the following error message:
  
  ADB398E The encoding scheme of the specified table space must be
  UNICODE
  
  However, the specified table space is a Unicode table space, so
  no error should have been given.
  Also, the same error is returned if the user specifies a table
  space that does not exist.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problems have been resolved.
