Error description

  • MESSAGE: DFHFC0001 An abend (code 0C4/AKEA) has occurred at
    offset X'16BA' in module DFHFCDR.
    .
    The customer is experiencing abend0C4's during startup of their
    regions after upgrading to CICS 5.6. It looks like the mainline
    registers are corrupted (all zeroes) so when they are restored,
    the module takes an abend0C4 when trying to use these registers.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DFHFC0001 / Abend0C4 when application   *
    * issues EXEC CICS DELETE with *
    *                      KEYLENGTH(0) to a CFDT.                 *
    ****************************************************************
    A CICS application issues EXEC CICS DELETE with KEYLENGTH(0)
    to a Coupling Facility Data Table (CFDT) file.
    IBM documentation says, "Do not specify a zero value for
    KEYLENGTH because the results are unpredictable."
    In CICS TS 5.6, KEYLENGTH(0) can cause a DFHFC0001 / Abend0C4
    in DFHFCDR due to a storage overlay of a register save area.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHFCDR has been modified to prevent an 0C4 if an application
    specifies KEYLENGTH(0).
    IBM documentation continues to say "Do not specify a zero value
    for KEYLENGTH because the results are unpredictable."
