Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * All Db2 12 for z/OS users who use IBM Db2 * * Analytics Accelerator with IBM Integrated * * Synchronization or other replication * * products * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * Replication products read log records * * only for objects specified in a * * qualifier list by DBID and PSID pairs * * to reduce volume. Applications can not * * receive ALTER TABLE diagnostic log * * records for tables that are not * * specified in the qualifier list, and * * table level filtering is not * * available. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Replication products that want to monitor ALTER TABLE executions for more tables than those that are specified in the qualifier list can only do so by adding those objects to the qualifier list or not filtering log records at all, potentially causing a large volume of log records that will be transferred. An additional option to exclude ALTER TABLE diagnostic log records from being filtered would enable additional function in replication products without transferring unneeded log records for data page changes of additional tables. An upcoming maintenance release of IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator requires the ability to monitor ALTER TABLE diagnostic log records to support new function. Replication products can not filter data page change log records by DBID and OBID pairs, only DBID and PSID pairs are supported. An additional qualifier list type to filter data page change log records by DBID and OBID pairs could help to avoid reading log records for tables in the same table space that are not needed. Comments
The PTF for this APAR adds a new flag byte in the WQALWQLS section to control different behavior. The new flag byte WQLSFLG is added as a one byte field following the eyecatcher field WQLSEYE. Setting the flag X'40' in WQLSFLG requests that ALTER TABLE diagnostic log records with log record subtype value X'0083' will be excluded from the filtering criteria specified in the WQLSDBPS list. When the flag is set, all ALTER TABLE diagnostic log records will be returned to the IFCID 306 reader. WQLSTYPE can be set to 'DBOB' to filter data page change log records by DBID and OBID pairs specified in the qualifier item list WQLSDBPS. The PTF for this APAR also adds support for a new function to be provided in an upcoming maintenance release of IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator when using IBM Integrated Synchronization. ×**** PE22/01/12 FIX IN ERROR.
