Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED:  All users of IBM WebSphere Application      *
*                  Server Version to Version migration         *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After a version to version migration    *
*                      if the aesKey.jceks and                 *
*                      passwordUtil.properties files weren't   *
*                      copied to the new profile               *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
****************************************************************
AES Encryption was added without migration of it's files. More
specifically, aesKey.jceks and passwordUtil.properties needed
to be manually moved after a version to version migration.

Problem conclusion

  • When using WebSphere traditional 9.0 version to version
migration AES encryption will now be migrated. aesKey.jceks
and passwordUtil.properties will be added to the target
WebSphere version after migration if the user had
AES Encryption enabled.

The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
9.0.5.11.
