APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • On the initial invocation of IMS Performance Analyzer V4.5,
existing users of IMS PA are presented with a warning panel
describing changes to certain Control data sets that renders
them incompatible to previous versions of IMS PA. JCL to copy
and rename the existing data sets is then presented to users to
    assist in the migration process.
However, the documentation does not adequately describe which
steps are required and which may be optional. This APAR modifies
the migration process and updates the documentation to more
    clearly define the process.

This APAR is also a Forward-fit of IMS PA V440 APAR PH40378 for
ABENDS002 when creating a Transaction Index record.

    ****************************************************************
    1. On the initial invocation of IMS Performance Analyzer V4.5,
existing users of IMS PA are presented with a warning panel
describing changes to certain Control data sets that renders
them incompatible to previous versions of IMS PA. JCL to
copy and rename the existing data sets is then presented to
users to assist in the migration process. However, the
documentation does not adequately describe which steps are
required and which may be optional. This APAR modifies the
migration process and updates the documentation to more
        clearly define the process.

    2. Forward-fit APAR PH40378 for S002 abend when creating
       Transaction Index record.

Problem conclusion

  • 1. The migration process is now completed in 2 steps:
A background copy of the existing IPIOPROF profile member
to a new IPI5PROF profile member to maintain existing
definitions in the IMS PA V4.5 environment, and

JCL is presented to copy and rename the existing Control
data sets for use in IMS PA V4.5, if required. This step
is optional for users with shared files, but still
recommended for users with individual Control data sets.

    2. Forward-fit APAR PH40378 for S002 abend when creating
       Transaction Index record.
