PH40230: RFT DOES NOT ENABLE DRIVER DOWNLOAD MECHANISM WITH CHROME V92

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When using IBM Rational Functional Tester (RFT) with Google
  Chrome v92 to record or play back a WebUI test, you will not see
  the option to download the matching driver version, which
  prevents recording and playback from working.
  

Local fix

• Obtain the appropriate version of ChromeDriver:
  
  1. Download the ChromeDriver which is compatible with Chrome 92
  from ChromeDriver downloads:
  https://chromedriver.chromium.org/downloads
  
  2. Rename the existing chromedriver.exe to
  chromedriver_<oldversionno>.exe in the drivers folder located
  at:
  <RFT Install
  path>\IBMIMShared\plugins\com.ibm.rational.test.rtw.webgui.selen
  ium_<plugin version number>\drivers
  
  3. Save the downloaded ChromeDriver to the drivers folder.
  
  4. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\IBM\RFT\configuration and check if
  chromedriver.exe exists. If yes, delete it.
  
  5. Restart RFT and try to record or play back.
  
  Note:
  These instructions are for Windows. The procedure is similar on
  Linux, except that Linux only supports playback.

Problem conclusion

• Fixed to provide suggestion to download driver on Web UI
  recording and playback wizard if chrome browser and driver
  versions are not matching.
  
  The fix for this APAR is included in 10.2.1 release.
