Error description

  • The stack for DFHWBCL shows that the chunk length we are
attempting to receive is very large. A HTTP chunk has to end
in CRLF and this is not found by CICS.

The missing CRLF causes diagnostics to be gathered and trace
attempts to print out the full chunk. Dependent on the chunk
size and storage it may or may not hit an area of storage that
is not allowed to be accessed which will result in an 0C4 in
    DFHTRPX.

Trace entries like the following can be seen when the problem
    occurs:

    S8008 WB 074B WBCL *EXC* INVALID_CHUNK

    S8008 TR 0102 TRPT *EXC* INVALID-DATA-PASSED : CALLING
DOMAIN WAS WB : PARAMETER LIST WAS TRACE_PUT,74B

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DFHTR0112 reporting bad data being *
    *                      passed to DFHTRPT                       *
    ****************************************************************
When CICS processes an invalid chunk we write out trace point
074B in DFHWBCL and this loops attempting to print out
    everything from the chunk.

If DFHWBCL believes the chunk size is very large CICS will
continue to print out 4000 bytes of the chunk until it hits
the end. This could lead to attempts to print inaccessible
    storage.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHWBCL has been updated to check if the chunk is invalid and
if so it will only trace out the first 4000 bytes of the chunk.
CICS will also print out the size of overall chunk.
