    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Generic CEMT SET CONNECTION(*) commands *
    * containing options that are not valid *
    * for the local system entry result in *
    *                      INVREQ RESP2 (47).                      *
    * If the command is issued as part of a *
    * batch job, the job completes RC4. *
    ****************************************************************
CICS TS 5.5 introduced changes to the INQUIRE and SET CONNECTION
commands to include the local system entry. This was to allow
AIDs to be cancelled. The only SET CONNECTION parameters allowed
for the local system entry are CANCEL and FORCECANCEL, all other
options are invalid. Issuing a SET CONNECTION request with an
invalid option against the local system entry results in INVREQ
    RESP2(47).
This means that generic set commands using the wildcard (*) will
return INVREQ RESP2(47) against the local system entry.
Customers issuing SET CONNECTION requests from batch jobs will
see the batch job completes RC4.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS TS 5.5 and above has been changed to allow generic SET
CONNECTION commands specifying options that are not valid for
the local system entry. In these cases the local system entry
will be ignored but the valid ones will be honoured.
Note: A SET CONNECTION request specifically specifying the local
system entry and containing invalid options will still return
    INVREQ RESP2(47).
