APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Currently, if one selects option RS ("RS - REST Services") from
    panel ADB21, and no REST service is defined, then the message
    'No rows returned' is issued, and there is no way to create a
    new REST service. If the DSNSERVICE table is not
    defined, a SQLCODE -204 error is issued instead.

    With this APAR applied, users will be allowed to create a new
    REST service if none exist yet. If the DSNSERVICE table does
    not exist, a new message will notify users that they need to
    create it.

Local fix

  • If "No rows returned" is received:

    Run the job in SADBSAMP member ADBSERV to create a sample
    REST service, and then use the CRE or B line command on that
    REST service to create a new one.

Problem summary

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Option "RS - REST Services" on panel *
    *                      ADB21 can result in SQLCODE=-204 or     *
    *                      "No rows returned".                     *
    ****************************************************************
    When option "RS - REST Services" results in SQLCODE=-204 or
    "No rows returned", there is no error handling provision and no
    guidance on what action is needed to resolve the error. With
    this APAR applied:
    If option "RS - REST Services" issues the message
    "No rows returned" (SQLCODE = 100), then the process will
    display the dialog panel ADB21RSB 'Create Rest Service',
    giving the user the opportunity to create one.
    If SQLCODE=-204 occurs, the following message will display:

    ADB200E Table DSNSERVICE is undefined and must be created
    before using this option. Please contact your Database
    Administrator (DBA) to refer to the Db2 Admin Tool User's
    Guide for instructions on how to resolve this issue.
