PH38494: DB2 UTILITY STATEMENT INCLUDES UNNECESSARY DEFAULT SORTNUM KEYWORD

APAR status

Error description

• When a change such as ALTER TABLESPACE >dbname.tsname<
  DSSIZE 8G is created via ALT, with ADVISORYAUTOREORG='YES',
  the following REORG statement is generated:

  Howerver, the SORTNUM keyword was not specified by the
  user, and is not necessary. The Db2 utility determines the
  best SORTNUM value.
  
  This APAR removes the default SORTNUM specification for all
  Db2 utility statements.

  When using ALT to change DSSIZE, the generated JCL includes a
  REORG TABLESPACE statement with the SORTNUM option, even though
  the user did not request that SORTNUM be specified.  Because Db2
  utilities have algorithms to decide the best SORTNUM value,
  SORTNUM should be generated only if the user requested it.
  This APAR removes the default SORTNUM specification for all
  Db2 utility statements.
