Error description

• Users of Optim have asked for a method by which they can
  install the product that will save the generated SQL and DDL
  statements necessary to define the required DB2 objects for use
  on different subsystems or at a later date.  This new feature
  provides a means to do so.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Optim users have requested a means by   *
  *                      which the product installation can be   *
  *                      accomplished with the generated SQL and *
  *                      DDL statements saved without being      *
  *                      executed for use later.  The statements *
  *                      should also be able to be modified for  *
  *                      use in a different DB2 subsystem.       *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the fix provided which will create a   *
  *                 process to address the requests.             *

  Optim's installation process, FOPINSTL, gathers information
  needed to create the DB2 objects required for the product to be
  useable and executes them immediately.  Although the ability to
  preserve the statements exists it requires that they be executed
  during the process.  With this new alternate installation the
  user may have Optim generate the statements necessary to define
  the DB2 objects and save them without having to execute them.
  

Problem conclusion

• This PTF delivers a function to satisfy the request that Optim
  be installed using a deferred method that saves the SQL/DDL
  statements for use later.
