Error description

  • Customer is suffering a solid ABEND 0C4 in DFHMQTRU in his CICS
TS Ver.5.4. This problem has appeared after apply maintenance
    from RSU2004 to RSU2012.

It seems the problem is CICS is trying to load a program named
MQHRF2 that doesn't exists and this provokes a PGMIDERR.
    additional symptoms:
DFHAP0001 applid An abend (code 0C4/AKEA) has occurred at
              offset X'00008102' in module DFHMQTRU.
The program check occurs when we are attempting to put out
    trace entry:
    AP A0B8 - TID_MQTRU_CONV_ERR_ABLK Data conversion error,
The failing instruction is LG R7,X'B8'(,R13)
due to R13 containing an invalid address.
    In CICS trace
it shows DFHMQTRU linked to program MQIMSVS, but the program
was not found, causing the LINK to fail with a Program ID ERROR.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend 0C4 in DFHMQTRU during an MQ API *

    ****************************************************************
An 0C4 abend occurs in DFHMQTRU after an MQ data conversion
    attempt has failed.
A typical scenario is an MQGET with get message option: convert
and a 1 byte buffer. This MQGET returns the length of the
message and a subsequent MQGET is issued specifying a correct
    buffer length.

Problem conclusion

  • UI71284 UI71286 UI71285
Code has been added in DFHMQTRU to disable interest in an
environment switch around the calls to the conversion exit, to
    avoid save area corruption.
