PH37821: COLLECT OF IMS COMPONENT ABENDS WITH U0002. PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY COLUMNS BEING DEFINED WITH INTEGER.

Error description

• Collect of IMS component abends with U0002 and gives this error:
  DSNT408I SQLCODE = -302, ERROR:  THE VALUE OF INPUT VARIABLE OR
          PARAMET NUMBER 4 IS INVALID OR TOO LARGE FOR THE TARGET
          COLUMN OR THE VALUE
  DRL0000T The log collector run terminated abnormally. The
          DRLDUMP file contains detailed information.
  

Local fix

• Made the following changes in member DRLTIMSS from the SDRLDEFS
  library.
  - Change column IMS_CHECKPOINT from SMALLINT to INTEGER. This
  column is repeated multiple times throughout DRLTIMSS.
  - Change the following columns from INTEGER to FLOAT:
  BUFFER_ALTER_CALLS
  PURGE_CALLS
  READ_IO_COUNT
  SCH_SMB_LOOKED_AT
  After you make those changes, please make sure you reinstall the
  component for the changes to take affect.

  Message "DSNT408I SQLCODE = -302, ERROR: THE VALUE OF INPUT

  TARGET COLUMN OR THE TARGET VALUE" is issued when collecting
  logs using the IMS CSQ Collect component.
  

Problem conclusion

• Alter the  definition of columns IMS_CHECKPOINT,
  BUFFER_ALTER_CALLS, PURGE_CALLS, SCH_SMB_LOOKED_AT and
  READ_IO_COUNT in tables IMS_CHKPT_IOSAM_T, IMS_CHKPT_POOLS_T,
  IMS_CHKPT_REGION_T, IMS_CHKPT_STATS_T and IMS_CHKPT_VSAM_T to
  prevent the DSNT408I message being issued.
