Error description

  • You are running module IGVDGNPP for the utility PRIMEPSA in CICS
    TS 5.6.

    The utility initialized lowcore storage with nonzero values to
    find potential references to uninitialized storage.
    In this case, CICS is creating the DFHJXSU URIMAP, and obtaining
    the current task userid.

    Atypically, the code is running as part of domain
    initialization, and not as a user task, so the domain
    transaction token references lowcore storage. While the code
    checks for a zero value in the first word of the token, the
    utility has populated that locale with nonzero values, leading
    to the ABENDs.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS can abend 0C4 at startup in module *
    *                      DFHSJDM at offset 0xDAE if the z/OS     *
    * debug utility IGVDGNPP is being used. *
    ****************************************************************
    If the z/OS debug utility IGVDGNPP is being used to prime unused
    areas of low core storage with values while CICS is started
    it is possible that CICS will abend with a 0C4 at offset 0xDAE
    in module DFHSJDM.

    A message like: "+DFHSJ0001 applid An abend (code 0C4/AKEA)
    has occurred at offset X'0DAE' in module DFHSJDM." will be seen
    in the job log just before the expected "Control is being given
    to CICS." message.

    A dump will be taken and another message should then be seen:
    "+DFHDM0105 applid Unsuccessful initialization of DFHSJ
    domain. CICS will terminate."

    Lastly, the job log will show: "IEF450I jobname CICS -
    ABEND=S000 U1800 REASON=00000000  920".

Problem conclusion

  • CICS module DFHSJDM has been modified to avoid this 0C4 abend.
