PH36722: OUT-OF-MEMORY CONDITION WHILE USING OPTIM ODPP PROVIDERS

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer is performing processes (CONVERT, LOAD, INSERT) using
  Optim Column Maps. These CMs utilize certain ODPP privacy
  providers to mask the data.
  The data to be processed contains a large number of instances
  with blanks, zeros or zero length values. These are special
  values which are being ignored by the ODPP providers. However
  their processing is allocating storage areas which are never
  released. This eventually may result in a variety of abends
  caused by shortage of memory.

  1. Optim is incorrectly managing certain ODPP control areas.
  2. Optim is issuing the error message, which may be legitimate,
  also in scenarion when it can safely correct the invalid DCB
  attributes.
  

Problem conclusion

• 1. Optim ODPP processing will be corrected.
  2. Optim will attempt to correct the CONTROL file attributes in
  scenarios when it is safe to do so.
