Error description
WebSphere Post-Migration (WASPostUpgrade.sh) for cell migration, in this case node migration, fails with the following error: MIGR0285E: An unexpected internal error occurred with exception java.io.EOFException: Unexpected end of ZLIB input stream The issue was caused due to incorrect permissions and ownership of the shared libraries, which differs from the wasadm user that executed the WASPostUpgrade script, and the rest of the ownership of the WebSphere filesystem and profiles. This defect will be addressing checking of the file permissions and ownership for the shared libraries during WASPreUpgrade process, and providing a more informative message, and recommended action to improve the migration process.
Local fix
The circumvention is to correct the incorrect permissions and ownership for the shared libraries, then re-execute the WASPreUpgrade process again to create the migration backup, followed by the WASPostUpgrade process, which should complete successfully.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The WebSphere WASPostUpgrade tool fails * * with the exception: * * java.io.EOFException: * * Unexpected end of ZLIB input stream. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When there is a directory in a shared library where the user running WASPreUpgrade has insufficient file permissions, the shared library jar that is created is corrupted. The WASPreUpgrade script was updated to fail when the user has insufficient file permissions on a directory in a shared library The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.21 and 9.0.5.9.
