Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server Edge Load * * Balancer for IPv4 and IPv6 users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The port level reset function does * * not immediately send RST to clients * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The Load Balancer has a port level reset function that notifies clients to reset the connection when the backend server the connection is using is detected down. The reset packt is not sent to the client immediately when the server is detected down.
Problem conclusion
The reset packet was not sent to connected clients until the client sent a packet to the load balancer. Corrected the code to send a RST packet to connected clients immediately when the server is detected offline and port reset is set to yes. Fix levels: 8.5.5.20 9.0.5.9
