Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: 01.z/OS sysprog * * 02.All zExpl and IDz users * * 03.z/OS Explorer support * * 04.All users using defining GDG datasets. * * 05.all users using notify on sysplex jobs * * 06.all z/OS Explorer users * * 07.z/OS Explorer support * * 08.z/OS sysprog * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 01.Enhancement introducing rse.env * * option seqsosi.to.spaces * * 02.When operate on a dataset file in a * * sequence of calls, including some * * error cases such as non-existing * * dataset file, RSE threadpool may * * crash. This issue may affect all * * calls that involve a * * getFFSResponse(), especially in * * error cases when pMsg starts to get * * set from init NULL state. * * 03.MODIFY LOGS does not clear existing * * log file. * * 04.Enhancement to detect whether the * * system supports GDGE. * * 05.JMON sometimes misses notify for * * sysplex jobs * * 06.JMON fails to properly identify JES * * version * * 07.error reporting active products in * * v3.2 FEKLOGS * * 08.Enhancement to boost resilience of * * JMON notify * **************************************************************** 01.z/OS Explorer enhancement introducing rse.env option seqsosi.to.spaces #_RSE_JAVAOPTS="$_RSE_JAVAOPTS -Dseqsosi.to.spaces=true" Enable or disable the automatic replacement of the sequential SO and SI symbols in the content when opening a data set file in DBCS host encoding. The default is false. When the value is set to true, SOSI and SISO instances in the content will be replaced with spaces. It is to avoid a column shift left in display and read-only mode when the data set file is opened. The conversion is saved to the host only when users save the content explicitly. 02.The pMsg of the FILE_INFO field of the input file handle used in a client command is not reset after used to generate the FFSResponse message and freed. (The field is *char with memloc as needed.) The field is double-freed when the file handle is reused through different JNI calls, pMsg got freed incorrectly when not reset to NULL after being freed. 03.MODIFY LOGS appends new log data to the existing log file. 04.Enhancement to detect whether the system supports GDGE. This is passed on to the client who can now decide to enable the support in the GDG allocation dialog. 05.z/OS Explorer JMON sometimes misses notify for sysplex jobs, causing the client to wait forever 06.z/OS Explorer JMON fails to properly identify JES version, which can result in reduced functionality and errors on the client side, for example " java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "" " when expanding JES > My jobs 07.error reporting active products in z/OS Explorer v3.2 FEKLOGS ** ERROR ** z/OS UNIX command failed (RC 127): $RSE_HOME/bin/products.sh stderr has 1 lines /usr/lpp/IBM/zexpl/bin/products.sh: FSUM7351 not found 08.Enhancement to boost resilience of JMON notify. Now JMON can automatically recover when JES ENF70 listener exit fails. The monitor interval can be set with new environment variable ENF70_MONITOR_INTERVAL.
Problem conclusion
01.Enhancement provided 02.Reset the pMsg field to NULL when its memory is freed to flag for the next possible message construction not to free it when it is indeed was not used previously. 03.Updated the MODIFY LOGS to delete the existing log file and create new log file for new log data. 04.Enhancement to detect whether the system supports GDGE. 05.adjusted code to use a different wait mechanism when not all fields are populated 06.corrected coding error that caused random value to be picked up 07.v3.2 FEKLOGS now correctly calls version.sh 08.Added ABEND handler to ENF70 listener and monitor thread to JMON.
