Error description

  • Db2 Admin : Compare reports difference in history table default
value when source and target are identical

    For example

If the base table has a column defined like:

END_D DATE NOT NULL WITH DEFAULT '9999-12-30'

    and it's History table

    END_D DATE NOT NULL

The base and history table are identical on the source
    and target.

Compare reports a difference which does not exist:

Compare table source( < base table name> and
    target( < base table name> )

       No changes to Table

Compare table source( <history table name> and
    target( <history table name> )

       Column END_D
(A)Default value changed from 9999-12-30 to
       Tables have identical column lists
       Table will be altered

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Compare might report a difference in a *
    * history table column default value *
    *                      when none exists.                       *
    ****************************************************************
Compare does not restore the history table column default value
and uses the same value as the temporal table column default
value. Compare then reports a difference in default value for
the history table column when one does not exist.

    For example,

Both the source and target have END_D defined as
    Base table:
END_D DATE NOT NULL WITH DEFAULT '9999-12-30'
    History table:
    END_D DATE NOT NULL

    Compare reports this difference:

    Compare table source(A.TABLE1_HST) and target(B.TABLE1_HST)
    Column END_D
(A)Default value changed from 9999-12-30 to
    Tables have identical column lists
    Table will be altered
