Error description

  • When either the region specific feature toggle file or the

    issued:
DFHPA1951I applid FEATURE TOGGLE FILE COULD NOT BE
    FOUND: path

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS does not differentiate error *
    * reporting for missing common or *
    *                      region level USSCONFIG                  *
    *                      featuretoggles.properties files.        *
    ****************************************************************
During CICS startup, DFHPAFT tries to reference both the
common and the region level featuretoggles.properties files,
as located through the USSCONFIG path structure. If either such
file cannot be found, CICS issues message DFHPA1951. There is
no way to differentiate which of the two file types may be
missing. In addition, longer USSCONFIG path names can result in
DFHPA1951 being issued across several lines. Since DFHPAFT uses
individual WTOs to write each line, these are not associated
together with WTO continuation numbers. This can affect jobs
that validate the CICS startup messages, as the lines are not
being treated as part of one multi-line message, and so not
    validated as such.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHPAFT has been changed to issue DFHPA1951 if a common
featuretoggles.properties file is not found, and new message
DFHPA1959 if a region level featuretoggles.properties file is
not found. In addition, multi-line WTO support is now used to
    issue the messages.
The CICS Messages manual will be updated as follows.
Existing message DFHPA1951 will be replaced, and new message
    DFHPA1959 added, as follows:
    .
DFHPA1951I applid COMMON FEATURE TOGGLE FILE COULD NOT BE
    FOUND: path
    Explanation
A CICS common feature toggle file could not be found at the
    specified path. CICS initialization continues.
    System action

    User response
As a minimum an empty featuretoggle.properties file
should be created in the directory with the correct
