Error description

  • In current SCI registration process, after the registration
is done in the SCI regions, the final step in the client is
to post an SRB to reset the Registration In Process flag in
its address space. But if this did not occur until after two
CSL3070I messages had been issued for that member, the member
would be removed from the other SCI's member lists.
As a result, a registered client been discarded from the list
in the SCI regions. This is incorrect.

    ****************************************************************
When SCI has completes the registration processing, it
schedules an SRB in the registering member's address space. This
SRB routine returns the results of the registration and POSTs
    the member.

SCI has a process that keeps the member lists across the
IMSplex in synch. A list of local members is sent to the other
SCIs periodically. The other SCIs compare this list with what it
has for members on that LPAR. If the SCI has a member on that
LPAR that is not on the list, it marks that member and issues
CSL30370I. If the member is not on the next list that is
    received, the member is deregistered.

When the list of local members is created, members are not
include if they are deregistered, had a registration error, are
marked as gone, or registration is in progress. The
registration in progress flag is turned off after the member is
POSTed at the end of registration.

In the reported case, a member registered and all SCIs in the
IMSplex processed the registration, The local SCI scheduled the
SRB to POST the registering member, However, the SRB was not
    dispatched for about 40 seconds.

During the 40 seconds the SRB was waiting to be dispatched,
that SCI generated and sent the member list twice. Since the
SRB had not run to POST the new member, it was not included in
either list. When the other SCIs processed the second list,
they removed the new member since it was not in two consecutive
    lists.

If the registration in progress is ignored, the CSL3070I
message would not be issued since the new member would be
included in the list, even if registration had not completed.

While diagnosing this problem, the max members that can be
included in the dump formatter Summary List was hit. This
prevented all the members of the IMSplex to be included. The
dump formatter change to display all the members is included
    with this APAR.

Problem conclusion

  • Remove the check for registration in progress when building
    the member list.

Modify the member summary dump formatter to ensure all member
    are included.
