Error description
A COBOL program that is using an Alternate Entry point attempts to call a nested program But an exception occurs, as the address for the nested program has not been properly set. The exception can vary (could be s0c1, s0c4, or other s0cx), depending on what is in storage.
Local fix
Don't call a nested program from a program that uses an alternate entry point.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL 6.2 compiling and * * running a program that calls another * * program through an alternate entry point * * and where the code in that alternate entry * * calls a nested program by identifier. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Runtime abend (0C1, 0C4, or 0C6) * * * * For example: * * CEE3201S The system detected an * * operation exception (System Completion * * Code=0C1). * * * * From compile unit COBSUB1 at entry * * point ALTENTR at compile unit offset * * +004D3D08 at entry offset +004D3AF4 at * * address 26DE0670. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. * **************************************************************** A list of information needed by COBOL runtime routine IGZXSCC1 was only being initialized at runtime when called through the main entry point of a program, but that list is also needed in alternate entry points when calling nested programs.
Problem conclusion
The compiler was updated to ensure that the list of information needed by COBOL runtime routine IGZXSCC1 is initialized upon entry to an alternate entry that calls a nested program.
