PH34496: IN SQL MODE, LOB/XML UNDULY UNLOADED WITH MAXIMUM LENGTH DESPITE FORMAT VARIABLE REQUESTED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A logical unload requesting the data be unloaded in FORMAT
  VARIABLE unduly pads the LOB/XML data to the length of the
  related LOB/XML column where the output field should be written
  with the real length of the LOB/XML data.
  
  This occurs only if the unload is processed in SQL mode and the
  SPANNED YES options is not specified.
  

Local fix

• If LOB data only is affected and if applicable to your use
  case, consider unloading the data with the SPANNED YES option
  and in native mode to get output fields for the LOB data written
  with the real length.
