    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Intrinsic function *
    *                      TEST-FORMATTED-DATETIME                 *
    * does not recognize a zero in the day *
    * field as invalid input. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
    Intrinsic function TEST-FORMATTED-DATETIME does not recognize a
    zero in the day field as invalid input. For example, if the
    following input is provided TEST-FORMATTED-DATETIME('YYYYMMDD',
    '20210300'), it should return a value of 8, indicating the 8th
    character is erroneous. Prior to the fix, call to this function
    with the above input returns 0 indicating the date value is
    valid when it is not.

Problem conclusion

  • The TEST-FORMATTED-DATETIME processing in the COBOL Runtime has
    been corrected. With the correction, calls to function
    TEST-FORMATTED-DATETIME with inputs that contain
    date values with a zero in the day field no longer return a 0
    value.
