Error description

  • ABENDS0C4 in IPIGERR error handler routine, when processing an
    error message from the IPIGSGPH routine, the GRAPH command
    processor. The ABEND is due to 24-bit registers being passed
    with flag bits in the high-order byte resulting in S0C4
    addressing exceptions when trying to address 31-bit storage
    using the invalid registers.

    This APAR also contains the forward fit code of IMS PA V440 APAR
    PH33545 which was for an ABEND0CF in IPIAFPRC + x'B78'.

    ****************************************************************
    Abend S0C4 in IPIGERR error handler routine, when processing
    an error message from the IPIGSGPH routine, the GRAPH command
    processor. The abend was due to 24-bit registers being passed
    with flag bits in the high-order byte resulting in S0C4
    addressing exceptions when trying to address 31-bit storage
    using the invalid registers.

Problem conclusion

  • 1. IPIGERR processing has been corrected to ensure registers
       passed contain valid 31-bit addresses.

    2. The IPIGSGPH error, which resulted in the call to the IPIGERR
       error handler, was due to incorrectly processing the
       specified Time Interval value for the GRAPH command. This was
       due to the Grande register used to derive the value,
       containing residual bits in the high half of the register,
       resulting in an invalid value being calculated for the time
       interval. That processing has been corrected to reset the
       Grande register before processing of the time interval value.

    3. Restrict the maximum allowable Time Interval specification
       for IMSPALOG INTERVAL(nnnn) and IMSPALOG GRAPH(nnnn) commands
       to 9999 minutes to match the maximum allowed in dialog panel
       IPIRSTO.

    4. Forward-fit of APAR PH33545 for IMS PA V4.4, Abend S0CF
       IPIAFPRC+B78
