APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • When RULES(NOLAXREDEF) is in effect, the compiler will produce
    messages IGYDS1154-W and IGYDS1073-I for 01-level items
whenever there is a length mismatch between redefined and
redefining items. Normally these messages are only produced for
    non-01 level items.

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
Currently messages IGYDS1154-W and IGYDS1073-I, which inform
users about length mismatches for redefined items, are only
produced for non-01 level data items.

Comments

  • The compiler was updated to add new suboptions
LAXREDEF|NOLAXREDEF to the RULES option. These options provide
users with extra flexibility in controlling when messages
IGYDS1154-W and IGYDS1073-I are received to inform users of
    redefined items with mismatched lengths.

For a description of changes related to the addition of these
new suboptions, please refer to the following sections in the
Enterprise COBOL for z/OS 6.x Knowledge Center online:

    1) Programming Guide -> Compiling and debugging your program
         -> Compiler Options -> RULES
