    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Certain file types within an application EAR file are not
exported properly when an application is updated. These files
include files with the extension *.xsd, *.composite &
    *.scacopy.
When the application is first installed via the WebSphere Admin
Console, it can also be exported and all the files contained in
the original application will be properly exported. However, if
the application contains one of the affected file types, and the
application is installed, updated and then exported, the
exported EAR will contain the initially installed versions of
    the affected file types.
This problem does not affect the files used by the WebSphere
application runtime meaning the updated application will be
fully served by the WebSphere application runtime, with the
    updated file(s).

Problem conclusion

  • A custom JVM property must be set to enable updating these
    file
types when an application is updated and exported:

    com.ibm.ws.soa.sca.app.update.enable

This property should be set to "true" to enable the update.
    The
default value is "false" and any other value, including not
defining the property, will default to false.

The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
8.5.5.20 and 9.0.5.8. For more information, see 'Recommended
