PH32461: DB2 OBJECT COMPARE DUPLICATE OBJECTS RENAME OR MASKING ADB7184E RC = 12 ALLOW TO CONTINUE PROCESSING CHANGE TO RC = 8

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Currently when Object Compare compare encounters an error
  related to duplicate records caused by renames or masking,
  the compare process terminates with RC12, and the following
  message:
  
  ADB7184E A duplicate record was detected for object <object
  name>.  The error is probably caused by the renaming of an
  object or by masking from <target object name> to
  <source object name>.
  The run will terminate.
  
  However, it would be more efficient for a user to diagnose the
  cause of the masking or rename error if all of the objects were
  processed, and the messages displayed, before the process
  terminates.
  
  With this APAR applied, if duplicate record errors occur,
  processing will continue until the end of the compare step,
  assuming a more severe error is not encountered (in which case
  compare would terminate immediately).  Also, the step will now
  end with RC8. Subsequent steps will not execute, as usual.

  Currently, when Compare encounters a duplicate record error due
  to a masking or a rename statement, it terminates immediately.
  Compare should continue processing to the end of the step so
  that the user can see all duplicate record errors that result in
  message ADB7184E in the report.  The step should also end with
  RC8 rather than RC12.
  
  Note that if an error occurs resulting in any message other than
  ADB7184E, the process will terminate as it would have prior to
  this APAR.
