The exclusive castout quiesce latch has been changed to be at
the partition level by the fix for PH26513, and it shares the
PB0 latch recovery pointer with the partition latch.
The ABEND04E RC00E5001 may occurr during the GBP-dependent
cpnversion of a pageset or partition defined with the
GBPCACHE ALL option because this latch was requested when it
    was already held.
When converting pageset or partition from GBP-depedent to
non GBP-depedent, the exclusive castout quiesce latch will be
acquired. This process needs to cast out all the pages from
the object and possibly purge them from the GBP. For table
spaces or indexes defined with the GBPCACHE ALL option, Db2
also caches clean pages and acquires the partition latch
when removing clean pages from the GBP. Thus the PB0 latch
recovery pointer could have been cleared after returning to
the GBP-dependent conversion. This will drive Db2 to obtain
the exclusive castout quiesce latch again and cause the
    ABEND04E RC00E50001.

Problem conclusion

  • Db2 code has been modified to not clear the PB0 latch recovery
pointer when releasing the partition latch if the exclusive
castout quiesce latch is being held.
