Error description

  • Problem may occur when using the IBM Transformation Extender
9.0.0.x Launcher in a Docker environment.

ITX Launcher may generate a large amount of detached JVM
    threads (more than 1000).

A JVM core file shows hundreds of these detached JVM threads
    like this:

    3XMTHREADINFO Anonymous native thread
    3XMTHREADINFO1 (native thread ID:0x18273, native priority: 0x0,
    native policy:UNKNOWN)
    3XMTHREADINFO3 Native callstack:
    4XENATIVESTACK (0x00007FB538F5A8C3 [libj9prt29.so+0x4e8c3])
    4XENATIVESTACK (0x00007FB538F5A944 [libj9prt29.so+0x4e944])
    4XENATIVESTACK (0x00007FB538F5A70A [libj9prt29.so+0x4e70a])
    4XENATIVESTACK (0x00007FB538F56AEF [libj9prt29.so+0x4aaef])
    4XENATIVESTACK (0x00007FB572388390 [libpthread.so.0+0x11390])
    4XENATIVESTACK pthread_cond_wait+0xbe (0x00007FB57238435E
    [libpthread.so.0+0xd35e])
    4XENATIVESTACK acquire_semaphore+0x46 (0x00007FB573F0565E
    [libmercrmgr.so+0x1265e])

The problem may be more prevalent when the Launcher calls Java
based adapters, such as MongoDB as well as calls to the JEXIT()
    function.

    ;MinICC=0

Problem summary

  • Users Affected:
IBM Transformation Extender users using IBM Control Center
    adapter.

    Problem Description:
Default connection manager configuration for IBM Control Center
leaves dangling native threads and threads show up under a
heavy load environment when some of the maps are processing a
    large batch of EDI documents.

    Platforms Affected:
    All

Problem conclusion

  • Added default configuration for the IBM Control Center (ICC) to
avoid dangling JVM native threads in a heavy load environment
when ICC adapter processing a large batch of documents to post
events to the IBM Control Center.

    Applies to:
    10.0.0.0 10.0.3.0 10.1.0.0

Fixed in the next service packs and releases.
