PH31802: IO_COUNT IN MVS_WORKLOAD2_H IS ZERO AFTER SETTING IOC=0

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• With z/OS 2.3 the recommendation is to set the service
  coefficient IOC to zero. With z/OS 2.4 setting a value for IOC
  is no longer possible and is always assumed to be zero.
  With IOC=0 or defaulting to zero the fields
  R723MIOC and R723CIOC are set to zero. Therefore the calculation
  for IO_COUNT ins the tables results in zero.
  The value in the field R723CIRC is an alternate value that
  may be used in place of the IO_COUNT value.

  When the service coefficient IOC is set to zero (IOC=0)
  the RMF fields R723MIOC and R723CIOC will contain
  zero, which results in a zero result when
  calculating the value for IO_COUNT in the MVS_WORKLOAD2
  tables.
  

Problem conclusion

• A new field R723CIRC stored as DASD_NP_IO_SCHAN_N in the tables
  is made available as an alternative to the IO_COUNT field.
  The following change are done for this APAR:
  1. Add new column DASD_NP_IO_SCHAN_N whose value is the sum of
     R723CIRC to get the IO counts.
  2. Update the System Performance Feature Reference Volume I to
     add information on the new column DASD_NP_IO_SCHAN_N in
     tables MVS_WORKLOAD2_H, _D and _M.
