Error description

• An insufficient storage abend may occur at execution time in a
  program that uses BIT-OF intrinsic function. Problem occurs
  when specifying LE run-time options ALL31(OFF) and
  STACK(,,BELOW,,).
  

Local fix

• Use ALL31(ON) and STACK(,,ANY,,).
  

Problem summary

  *                 arguments to another intrinsic function      *

  *                 BIT-OF/HEX-OF is numeric.                    *

  For functions BIT-OF/HEX-OF the compiler was not properly
  calculating the maximum result length of the function when it
  was used in a nested function invocation and when the argument
  was numeric.
  

Problem conclusion

• The compiler was updated to properly calculate the maximum
  length of the return value of the BIT-OF/HEX-OF functions when
  used in a nested function invocation and the function argument
  is numeric.
