Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server Network Deployment * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Non planned task management tasks are * * never get deleted. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Non Planned Task Management tasks will not go away unless you close them. If you never view the console to see these tasks, you may not realize they are there and they can cause slowness or even OOM in the dmgr if there are too many of them.
Problem conclusion
Added the code implementation to make the non-planned task management tasks to expire in 24 hours, by default, from the time they were created or allow an user to set the expiration time in hours using the deployment manager system property named "com.ibm.websphere.taskmanagement.task.nonPlannedTaskTimeout óÔé After those tasks expire, they will be removed in the next 24 hours. The non-planned tasks created before applying this APAR are not impacted by this APAR fix. They still need to be removed using an administrative console. The system property "com.ibm.websphere.taskmanagement.task.nonPlannedTaskTimeout"acc epts an integer value to configure the amount of hours for a non-planned task to expire (in hours). The default value for this property is 24 (hours). Complete the following steps to set the system property on a deployment manager process. 1. In the administrative console, click System administration > Deployment manager > Java and process management > Process definition > Java virtual machine > Custom properties. 2. Enter the name of the custom property. 3. Set the value of the custom property to true. 4. Click Apply, and save your changes. 5. Restart the deployment manager where the system property was set. The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.19 and 9.0.5.7.
