PH31084: ABEND S0C4 S0C6 PROCESSING OPTIM.MASK() ERRORS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer is processing data using a Column Map with a CM PROC
  which invokes the optim.mask() function. The mask request string
  is not syntactically valid and Optim attempts to produce an
  error message.
  The error processing corrupts storage and ends with
  ABEND S0C4 or ABEND S0C6.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Optim may produce large diagnostic      *
  *                      messages while validating the CM        *
  *                      PROCEDUREs. Excessive length of the     *
  *                      messages may cause memory corruption    *
  *                      and lead to an ABEND.                   *
  ****************************************************************
  Memory corruption may be caused by messages with excessive
  length.
  

Problem conclusion

• Optim processing logic will be corrected to allow for long
  diagnostic messages.
