PH31028: SELECTION CRITERIA (NOT EQUAL) NOT WORKING ON IMS LT AND PARTIAL KEY

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer is performing data EXTRACT from an IMS database using
  SEL criteria and specifies the ^= (NE, not equal) operator for a
  column.
  The column redefines middle part of a unique index key defined
  over the IMS segment. Optim generates qualified SSA to retrieve
  the records meeting the criteria. The SSA specifies incorrect
  selection values and no records are being extracted from the
  database.

  Optim attempts to optimize IMS data selection using qualified
  SSAs. The created SSAs may incorrectly specify predicate values
  when the Legacy Table describing the IMS segments has columns
  redefining the key field. This may cause that incorrect data
  being extracted from IMS.
  

Problem conclusion

• Optim processing logic will be corrected to be more restrictive
  in qualified SSA in certain scenarios involving selection
  criteria.
